People who believe this seriously pretend like the book of Esther, a book about a strong woman who saved her people by being brave, doesn’t exist.

There are lots of examples in the bible of women being undervalued. Let's not lie.
-Abraham gave his wife away twice to save his own skin but risked his life to rescue his nephew Lot.
-Lot offered up his virgin daughters to rapists who were demanding the male visitors for their pleasure. -Married Women found in adultery were stoned to death whereas a married men found in adultery weren't punished as long as they weren't with another man's wife.
-Women were considered property often taken in raids during conflicts with other nations.
-Women's oaths could be revoked by their fathers or by their husbands.
-Men could divorce their wives if they found them unpleasing but not the other way around.
-Women generally couldn't own property because of inheritance laws.
-Women weren't educated and they were restricted from taking part in many organizations.
Jesus was the only man in the bible who elevated women to having inherent value and this shocked his disciples and the ruling class.

When I do read the Bible, it does seem to put man over woman. It’s literally says a woman should not speak in church, but she should wait to ask her husband if she has any questions when she goes home.

I don't think this is an answer for how some female Bible characters were treated with no one speaking up for them. Can we stop beating about the Bush as Christians and really discuss the questions that are hindering people?

I think there's something to be said for understandable confusion around hierarchical structure amongst the genders and family units in the Bible. But if someone can't set aside their criticisms outside of a 21st century western worldview and study it based on that time period, audience, and customs, then it's really easy to miss HOW MUCH the patterns in the Bible clearly advocate for women to be treated with the same amount of inherit value and love.

Dude! Mr Christian… there are over 200 verses that specifically belittle and demean women… here are a few from the NT, since Christians only cherry pick from the OT when it’s convenient…

Matthew 24:19 "[woe] to them that are with child"
Luke 2:22 Mary unclean after birth of Jesus
I Corinthians 11:3–15 Man is head of woman; only man in God's image
14:34–35 Women keep in silence, learn only from husbands
Ephesians 5:22–33 "Wives, submit . . ."
Colossians 3:18 More "wives submit"
I Timothy 2:9 Women adorn selves in shamefacedness
2:11–14 Women learn in silence in all subjection; Eve was sinful, Adam blameless

Men & women are both made in the image & likeness of GOD not based on how attractive they are or their status. Women have intrinsic worth & value.

The thing you don't address is how the Bible values women based on whether or not they're virgins (to be clear, I'm not trying to say sexual sin is okay), and that women must cover their heads, not be allowed to speak at church, cannot have any pastoral roles, and be under the man. You sound like my Muslim friend who was trying to say that Islam didn't devalue women because they get an inheritance if the parents pass away - 2/3 to the men and 1/3 to the women... You know... Equal! 😝

I needed to hear this. Thank you. Sometimes it's rough reading through Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Some of those laws seem kinda harsh compared to today's standards.
