So some tips for pretty much anyone playing hardcore is
1. Don’t go anywhere just stay at spawn until you have full iron gear and a shield
2. Get a shield immediately and then a bucket then armour
3. Don’t take risks do everything to minimize those risks
4. Use your first five diamonds for a pick and enchanting table
5. Do not mine any more diamonds until you get either silk touch or fourtune 3 on your diamond pick
6. Build walls light everything up and get at least a box for you to live in by the end of the first day
7. Once you have at least full iron gear then you can start exploring to find that perfect place for a base but be prepared with everything you might need on an extended adventure
8. Sleep as much as possible
9. Get a basic farm or some kind of reliable food source as you can starve to death in hardcore as it has hardmode settings and you use a lot of food when sprinting so try to keep that to a minimum in the beggining
10. Always be prepared for most situations ie water bucket shield blocks to build with food and torches
11. Avoid creepers at all cost as they can and will instantly kill you without a shield raised and with a shield they will still do a significant amount of damage

Also the reason you were being hit through your shield Sean was because that crossbow had piercing

1:14 I find its much easier to get iron/coal in the extremely tall mountains. The ones covered in snow. Iron tends to spawn a lot more often there than in caves now.

I’ll give you some house advice my man. You actually didn’t do bad just here’s a tip with the wooden beams lower them a bit then finish the roof with the cobble stone stairs your were using. And also I would suggest later on a bigger space for storage. I love you videos Sean so I hope you take my building advice.

When you go treasure hunting, the map is always coordinated to the proper directions (North up, south down, east right, west left), which you can check which way your facing with F3. The X is always located in the chunk at 9, x, 9. Happy Treasure Hunting!

Some treasure was found along the way.
Your house has a nice rustic feel to it. The only thing missing is a few paintings and torch lighting.
You can cook food on a campfire.

Trading with villagers can get you a lot of stuff. But first you need to find some crops to trade them, or coal.
You can make charcoal from wood.

Some building tips
1 alot of your builds suffer from interior neglect. You seen to just build the outside of your houses and not work on the inside.
2 you have a lot of square houses. Mix it up.
3 you often make your houses tall and wide, but usually have them as one room one floor. Add some interior walls or floors or something
