how does online gaming work on xbox game pass for pc with ea games? is it using your xbox account and gamertag and playing against xbox players or is it your ea account and playing against pc players?

I click download in the xbox app, it takes me to the EA Desktop and I then click download on there. It then does the loading symbol for like 1 second and doesn't do the download, no messages nothing. (I'm trying to install Madden 21) it just won't download the game???

When I tried to download EA Desktop, it said it can't do it and I had to go download it myself from the page, so I did it and now I have it installed, I'm logged in and I have my accounts linked, but when I try to download a game from Xbox Game Pass again it still says the same thing and asks me to download EA Desktop even when I have it installed and it still says that it can't download it and try downloading it from the page.
It's really weird and I haven't found anything that helps me solve my problem yet, I'm hoping you could help me.
