CNC Construction Set Making Clamp Bushings

I needed to make some T-slot bushings for a table I have been experimenting with on the CNC Construction Set. These are being cut from some 3/16" very dense MDF type material.

I also wanted to push the build a little so I started slow and worked my way up. I needed to start slow as I only had a few clamps, but as I finished the bushings, I was able to add more clamps and thus, increase the speed.

The very first bushing took over 2 minutes to complete. Bu the time I had created my last bushing, I was cutting them in 22 seconds.

When doing fast cuts in hard material it is not always the rigidity of the machine. The clamp system, and the bit will affect the maximum speeds. In this case, it was bit deflection.

I was able to push the bit in the end by increasing the RPM as this tends to reduce deflection.

All in all I was very happy with the results, and now have a ton of the bushings and sever clamps for this table system.
