India buys more Russian oil despite sanctions

Russian oil imports are significantly changing bilateral trading figures between India and Russia. India imports 80% of its energy demands and it’s the world’s third largest consumer of crude oil. But with Russian banks pushed out of dollar based payment systems, settling accounts has posed a challenge. While India has clearly prioritised energy security, this mutually beneficial relationship with Russia may put its diplomacy with the United States on a slippery slope.
