If you're an ultra wide enjoyer, well, the day you've been waiting for is finally here because yes, we do have our hands on the first ever true 4K ultra wide OLED display. This means yes, you're getting a total of 5120 by 2160 pixels an enormous increase over the current essentially 1440p options on the market.

And this also means not only is everything gonna be far more detailed with this brand new OLED 45GX950A from LG, but it also means you're getting way more real estate, especially vertically, which is gonna help you play your games much better and immerse you in them far more than any 1440p one on the market. But coming in at an insane $2,000,(...) is this really worth the price?

I mean, this is gonna have to be the absolute king of ultra wides for it to be worth picking up. And I'll tell you guys right now, the answer to that question is yes, it is. This is without question the best ultra wide monitor that you can buy today. I'm getting it, matte coating isn't a dealbreaker for me it still looks great. Sucks they did UHBR 13.5 but it's lossless anyways. Tariffs are going to drive the price through the roof once they run out of in US stock...

For only $500 more the 55 G5 is a no brainer if you’re ok with wall mounting to get some viewing distance as a monitor.

I had the first 45" LG OLED, the matte coating is insufferable with an 800R curve. When you sit at the recommended distance you get not 1 but 2 diffusion spots on the screen, it literally sent me cross-eyed. I had to sell it after a month.

Excellent and honest review. I've been watching this monitor since CES and I almost bought one yesterday. I'm glad I waited, although I'm tempted to buy one before tariffs hit and take the price out of reach.

This is definitely one I have been keeping my eye on since it was announced a few years ago. I'm not sure if I can afford it right now, so it isn't an instabuy for me. But maybe some day I will. Plus I'd need to see the curve up close to know if I'll be able for it. I loved the 1800 curve of the Dell monitor I used to have and miss that with the LG C3 I'm using now, but the C3 is WAY better for games and movies.

I know you focus on games but I'd love to see your reviews mention movies and productivity. Can I ask a favour? Can you test how it handles The Dark Knight (for example) as it shifts between ultrawide and IMAX? Are the ultrawide scenes full width? Or is it black-bordered? Just curious, thanks dude! :-)

I don't understand why they don't give us both options, matte and glossy

This is an absolute must have for flight simming. A 16:9 monitor, the nose of your plane is going to take up most the screen. A 21:9 you get scenery from the side windows (which makes finding airports much easier too). All 21:9 monitors up to this point have been 1440, which means for flight sims, that cuts off about 400 rows from the top and bottom. Which on the bottom is your gauges. To have an ultrawide monitor that you can see scenery, find landmarks, etc which still having view of your gauges is an absolute dream. And OLED so that clouds show detail, but you can still see the taxi way in the dark, just adds bonus points.

Ppl really make a big deal over matte vs glossy. I can’t for the sake of me see anything wrong with my current monitor being matte. The picture quality is superb. My 5k2k will be arriving this afternoon. Can’t wait
