funny that this video showed up just as i finished Stefan's basic html course. I could't agree more about getting the basics down first. when I learn something new I need to know why I'm doing a specific step, not just " type this in and this will show up on the screen" I've watched other teaching videos on html and never got as much out of it as Stefan class, he thoroughly covers what you need to know and WHY! I now feel confident to move on to the basic css training.

Wow! That YouTube flaw that you spotted is a belter. For a company that big to have a flaw like that is mind blowing.

I have the same problem with long comments on youtube. I believe my adblocker is the culprit. When I have it enabled, youtube doesn't show 'Read more' in long comments, so they are cut off. When I have it disabled, the comments work fine again.

Please forward me to a video on languages I can learn for robotics- like the language used for the robotic ARM. In the robots and computer interaction (Tesla & Space X) category to the very least.

Is web programming the same as web development?

This is all true... And a little suggestion if you guys already know PHP and need to learn a framework, I suggest visiting devmarketer. His tutorials are great and he explains all of it thoroughly, I highly recommend him. I don't know if Stefan does this too though.

I agree that learning the basics is a must before jumping to the shortcuts. But do you know how hard it is to find tutorials that don't use jQuery? I'm starting to wonder if most devs even know how to program in vanilla JS. Many tutorials teach even the most elementary things using jQuery. It's frustrating because it's often needless, especially these days, but for someone who wants to focus on the underlying tech first, it makes finding those lessons very difficult.

Hi Stefan, the point made in the video is very well and good. However, every front end development job I see online seems to require knowledge of at least one of the frameworks! I'm currently finishing a degree in digital design, and I feel that I am nowhere near qualified for any job I see posted online. I am struggling to learn javascript and Bootstrap as it is, and to be honest I often feel like I'll never be good enough to become a developer. I am getting good grades in my degree, but I don't feel confident at all. Maybe I am severe imposter syndrome I don't know...

I've tried to start learning React and Vue, but don't get very far every time due to too complications with both. I think I would learn development much better in a classroom environment, but I live in rural Ireland and there isn't any classrooms here. I can't afford a bootcamp and I can't move away from home.

I am starting my final project soon. It's a group project where we are making a video streaming website for a real world company. I will be doing the front end as ther are two coders on our team doing the back end (different specializations in the degree). We will not be using a framework.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? (feel free to make a video about it!) Thanks!!

I started reading "You don't know JS" because of that comment and got through the first book so far. It's really interesting and has some interesting claims about most JS developers doing everything wrong, such as treating JS as an object-oriented language by abusing a feature.
Edit: It's also free on the web, so no excuse to not read it.

I agree with you Stef, but the problem is that the most of teachers teach you the basics on examples having nothing to do with the real web development. Than there is the big gap between these basics and real tasks. Many times I just don't know what to do with the knowledge I've just gained.

best way is DONT if your learning your learning, practicing or not practicing it's hard not to overcomplicate this

dev can be the worst for learning things and not knowing why, make sure your learning resource explains why to use things or figure that out and it will stick more
