Free version:
1) Load a Fruity Peak Controller on your kick
2) Open a Parametric EQ 2 on your 808, right click on the first band fader (the lne link to the 1 band) and selct « Link to controller » then select « Fruity Peak - Peak » and for the mapping, select « Inverted »
3) Go back to your Fruity Peak Controller, set the Base to 50%, the volume to 100% and VOILÀ !!
You can also move the 1 band if the frequency it’s sitting at is not correct to you !

This is totally free and literally takes 2 minutes so be sure to try this first before considering buying a whole plugin just for that :)

I think you can do it with any native compressor, because kickstart is not free, but it is a nice tip

Stock plugin already does this "Fruty peak controller" and if you really want some type of duck you can do a automate track and do it any shape you want and even change the shapes along the track...

Jay Ive been using this method for a few months for drill and it sounds amazing but for some reason it doesn't have the same effect on trap beats. Do you recommend side chaining like this for trap beats as well? Or would it be better to simply eq both to blend well?

It depends how loud the kick is going into the plugin as well as how strong the transient is on the 808. You might need to mix it stronger
