Using baking soda and vinegar is a great way to clean many things in your home, but did you know that you shouldn't use these 2 ingredients together at the same time?

Yes, i used baking soda first then vinegar after to clean up dog pee. And the ingredients finally worked. Unlike when i mixed then initially.

The explosion is a chemical reaction. The only place I use both at the same time is for cleaning my sink drain. I have a stainless steal sink and sprinkle the BS on it then pour whit vinegar all over to cause the chemical reaction. My sink is clean and to gunk that build up in my rubber gasket and pipe above the garbage disposal is cleaned out and I don’t get clogged sink pipes anymore! It’s good also for the bathtub drain. All the hair, soap, shampoo and conditioner can clog your drain. I do both the bathroom sink and tub at the same time. Works great and is nontoxic.

I glad you published this. I have been telling people for years that combining an acid and a base results in water. The idea of combining them is pervasive now.

Do not use baking soda together with vinegar. They neutralise each other. The reaction you see where it fizzes is actually the same reaction where they cancel each other out. They’re both great to clean with, but use one after the other. The one is great against grease and the other against limescale. By using one after the other you can get both of these things off of the same surface for a deep clean.

Here's some science: Vinegar is an acid, baking soda is alkaline, mix them together and it becomes neutral.

I have used them together along with disch washing liquid in my air fryer and oven, and the mixture did the magic

Everyone should have learned in middle school; vinegar (acid)plus baking soda (base) reacts to make CO2 gas (bubbles), water, and salt (in this case, sodium acetate).
That’s not the same as table salt, but I believe it’s also used to preserve things so I’m guessing it would maybe stop some bacteria growth.

Thank you. If you mix them both in a bowl and dip your cloth into the solution you’re just cleaning with water. Separately the soda has good grit for stainless steel sinks and even hard to remove baked on black stuff on your oven racks and Pyrex dishes. The vinegar removes grease. The bubbles will lift a stain out if a rug but otherwise the bubbles are just fun. And when they’re finished you have the benefits of neither the baking soda or the vinegar. Just a dead bowl of uselessness.

*just use vinegar, a scrub daddy & a microfiber cloth. removes almost everything & disinfects.*

*anything tougher i go right to barkeepers friend! (then spray down with vinegar& leave wet to disinfect & airdry spotless. on the cheap.*
