As an Android user, changing the launcher and icons every few months or so helps me sway the "need" to upgrade my phone.

I just feel that phones have gotten so much better over the years that a lot of people overestimate how much phone they really need. That is part of the reason mid range phones are getting so popular. Iguess we all get some gadget envy that keeps the phone makers happy.

If project Ara, the modular smartphone that Google planned to bring to the world was not cancelled, we would be saving a lot of money, replace our camera, the chip, the battery so easily.

I am rocking my pixel 1 2016, the version with 128gb storage. I will use it until pixel 7 is out, then I will buy pixel 5. I still love my pixel 1.

I upgrade every year (I’m one of those people addicted to upgrading). My truth is that I always regret not keeping the old phone (not upgrading). And I always have that regret after my return period expired. I will be changing that mindset this year. I plan to keep my current phone for at least 2 years.

The term “upgrade” is a marketing term, your not upgrading, your signing a finance agreeemrnt for a exspensive phone . And if you “upgrade” every 2 years it means you never own the phone your paying for .

I wait two years to upgrade. I think that’s the sweet spot. We used to have to wait at least three years in Canada but a lot of people were having issues with their devices in the last year that warranty wouldn’t cover anymore. Whenever i do upgrade, i always go for the previous years phone so it’s cheaper.

I haven’t had a “new release” cell phone since the LG keybo, which i used for four years and it was still going by the time i did upgrade! I miss that phone!
