Grab a 9v battery and put it on the speaker wires. It will make a sound and tell you which one is which

I got talked into doing this by a friend in my S-10 almost 20 years ago. Stupidest thing I have ever done. We couldn't figure out where everything went. So I ended up paying a friend of a family member. He got it working, but there were still quite a few issues. A few months later I took it to a local stereo shop and got it fixed right. Don't be stupid like me, spend $15 and buy the harness adapter. It ended up costing my over 10x what the harness costs, many hours of work, and a whole lot of headache. I will never cut another wire in a vehicle I care about and unless you truly have experience (if you do you wouldn't be on this video) you shouldn't either.

WISH i were that far along Taking the old unit out in the morning, got both door panels off, new Fosgates going in with a New Sony hi piower, . .... Im gonna use shrink tubing when I do mine, then after all hooked up, blacktape the hell out of it.

Electrical tape on connections is not recommended... But I have always done it too, with no probs other than stickyness!

Hi, bought a Mitsubishi montero, it came without a radio or amps, previous owner did had an amp and a radio..
I installed a radio myself, a Dual just like yours, (no amp this time)downloaded a wiring diagram of the car to do everything right just like you..
Radio turns on and everything, I just don't get any sound ... followed the diagram so I am sure it's hooked up correct!
Any idea of why I get no sound ?

Good instructions but I'm putting a radio in a truck that's never had one. Where do I get my power from? Do I need two hot wires for ignition and 12v?

How do you do this to the Toyota carolla 07 ce (03-07 series) I connected every cable, it turns on, radio seems to work cuz the description of the station and song shows up only NO SOUND at all. Read something about bypassing factory amp? Which I don’t know what that looks like or where it is. I have a jvc kw m560 bt stereo system: my car wasn’t installed with any of the JBL just the basic factory parts

I am trying to wire an aftermarket radio into my Chrysler 300c and on the wiring harness coming from the radio, there are the 3 power wires. Ground, constant and the one that turns on and off with the key (red). However, I have all the wires from the car stripped and ready to be connected, but on the car there are different power wires. When I use a test light on them 2 of them are powered whether the car is on or off. Which means they are different from the 3 power wires on the wiring harness for the radio, any explanations or ideas?

Man I cut off the connectors to my 2010 chevy cobalt just like you did before I saw your vid. I thought I was doomed lol but I connected every wire to the original I guess and heak shrunk the tubes on em but omg it's not turning on and I have no idea why please help. I looked at the diagram for a cobalt and I don't see a 12v anything.

Just to understand did you cute off the original connecter and those are the wires that’s your connecting to the new one right ?

I have a grand am 99 gt, cant figure out my radio issue. No power. Hopefully this video will fix the problem. I noticed you connected the white wires to different colored wires. Can you tell me which ones you connected them to? Thanks.

The newer vehicles I Wouldn't recommend disconnect the harness and turn the key on. It could mess somethings up like air bag 4 wheel drive ect.
