Tanking end-game bosses with Aegis Aurora. WUATU #9 - Path of Exile (3.12 Heist)

Taking old school item - Aegis Aurora and testing it out against current end game bosses. Was able to face tank Shaper's Slam and balls, Sirus' laser, Cortex, Guardians and Conquerors. Only weak to DoT. Picked Storm Burst just because.

Use latest version of LocalIdentity's Fork PoB, it is more advanced.
Ascendancy: Inquisitor
Pantheons: pick something to reduce DoT damage or whatever.
Unique items: Cerberus Limb, Aegis Aurora, Memory Vault, Skin of the Lords, Aul's Uprising, Militant Faith (Dominus), Watcher's Eye (+x armour / physical as extra lightning), Natural Affinity.

If you get an immune to corrupting blood jewel you can probably tank the Sirus Die Beam. I followed Neato's build last league and could tank everything from that fight aside from the maze slam. It is by far the tankiest character I've ever played. It also worked out well that I was able to snag a 1g1r4b Iron Reflexes chest for 40c about a week into the league.

One trick for people that are seeing chests that have 1 more green socket than they wanted is to use Hypothermia in that socket. If you grab the Chilling Presence (nearby enemies are chilled) cluster jewel notable from a rare or a Megalomaniac you can get another damage link for a skill that wouldn't normally be able to guarantee a chill on enemies.

The stampede assasin boots should be great. they remove the downside of the grasping vines and a bonus annoint and faster flame dash recovery. also the watchers eye with immunity to vulnerability is cheap and then you could also use Coward's legacy chain belt for 30% more spelldmg. option for large cluster jewel would be mace/scepter one with aoe while stationary and fortify on melee hit. with reckoning-accuracy-blind fortify should be up 100%. also anomalous determination gives stun immunity. might be better if your not stacking huge armor and is way cheaper then the divergent
should be way better as CI build with stalwart commander disciplin and skin of the lords global def increase.
playing a similar build as CI non crit incinerate and it's hella tanki, can go afk in wave 20 sim

You can hef precursor emblem with iron reflexes on max frenzy charges with some minimum frenzy (or jewels with reduced maximum frenzy cahrges) you can get perma iron reflex without skin

I remember from my various Herald of Agony builds how strong Aegis is, particularly against Sirus, my first 100 or so Sirus kills I still had no idea how to dodge the DIE! beam... good times!

You say you're too lazy to change flasks... I'm looking at the medium mana flask still on my necro's belt... She has EB btw... Killed Sirus btw...
I definitely need to work on my defense layers as well... It's usually either all defense or all offense, but I think there's enough offense options nowadays that you can get away with it more than before. Maybe next league I'll try my hand at another tanker.

I did a full unique arakali's fang + HoP guardian with this shield... I only manage to die if I stand too much in degen but anything that can be blocked will be blocked and will heal me lol

I noticed that the shield give you 15% elemental damage to attack skills. Have you consider an attack based build. Maybe using Grelwood Shank for the Iron reflexs instead of geting the body arrmour and you will get Point blank too.

I've been casually using this on a cold-dot occultist, didn't really spec much into block, but I feel like it's been worth it so far. Even with a mid es/armour roll it's a 200 ES shield. Now I kind of want to use it on an inquisitor, I've been wanting to make a cwc build this league still.

Ugh, I have so much to learn. Haven't had the time to play for most of 2019/2020... Think I'll play in STD for a while and learn all the new mechanics and endgame stuff for a while before I get back tothe leagues. Interesting build though, I remember the old max block builds that used Aegis from back in the day.

They haven't forgotten. I've seen people going Aegis with replica dream feather and creating immortal builds.

there's a decently people play this build check inquisitor and check incinerate in poeninja build
I play this build the same setup the difference is I use incenerate
this build been around for quite a while, it just never gained any traction since aurastacking is the best and people only want make the best build.
