I remember drills in school where we got under our desks like that would protect us from nuclear fallout. There were bomb shelters also.

I grew up in the era where the USA was in constant fear of the Soviet Union sending nuclear missiles over to us. We had two fallout shelters in the town I lived in. In school we were made to get under our desks or tables during a drill. If we were in the hallways we were told to sit with our backs to the wall and our arms over our bent heads. We were taught the do's and don'ts during and after an attack. Today I have no faith in what our government would do to save its citizens. They would probably go with the proverbial "collateral damage" mentality, that it would be okay to lose a few in order to save the politicians and military bigwigs in Washington, DC. Glad I got my training back then. I live near a military base now and can find no mention of a fallout shelter for the citizens. Sad, isn't it?

Okay, important question - Why would anybody WANT to survive a nuclear attack? A fast flash fry versus weeks of radiation sickness? Sorry, but you'll find me driving TOWARD the projected impact point...

If your tap water still works and you intend on staying where you are for the 2 weeks. I've heard it's safe to immediately fill every container you have within 5 to 10 minutes of detonation.

Mike I guess you forgot to mention the fact that the person CANNOT LOOK AT THE FLASH given that it is imediately blinding.

Thank you for the list Mike, these are not just for a nuclear attack, but for any type of huge emergency. I really appreciate what you do.

Not nuclear but I recently went through a tornado in Georgia 5 days so far with no power so things like cereal bars have been a life saver all good advice for any disaster not just ww3.

Keep magnesium around, it helps to nullify the radiation. Kelp is what they used in Japan after the bombs because kelp is high in magnesium.

I'm a twisted sister.. I'm laughing my cynical arse off... I would be praying for a complete and instant vaporization.

Don't you think if there's a nuclear attack most people in those areas (1, ooo of miles would be wiped out? Good info if your far enough removed from immediate contact✌️

And the most important thing you need to do get to the nearest military base before the bombs Arrive and become a shadow On a wall

Extra tipp; Stay away from windows and other things made from glas before the blast hits. The windows will probably shatter transforming into projectiles. The blast moves with the speed of sound, so if you are 7 miles away, you have under 20 seconds from seeing the lightning until the blast hits your position. So you have some seconds to get out of the splinter cone of the window, you are looking through into the next room or just at the wall by the side of the window. Time to seek shelter will be limited. Duck & cover will be mostly right.

#25, what if the tap water has been boiled first?
I live in a place where the water supply is regularly flushed out and we have to undergo a "boil order" for a short period of time.

#11, what if you use an iodine solution to disinfect your hands? Back during the 1900s, before performing surgery, doctors would use multiple bowls filled with an iodine solution to disinfect their hands before surgery.

#5 and #1, I know my old high school had a nuclear fallout shelter (it was supposedly underneath the north stairwell at the northern part of the school).

These are all common sense things that you should do even without a nuclear attack.
Do cell phones work during a nuclear attack?

Realistically 2steps if nuclear attack:
1) put head between your knees
2) kiss ur axs goodbye!

You are forgetting the most important part. If it is a ground or nearby aerial detonation all electonics are fried by the EMP. All modern cars, phones, tv, radios are dead because they use microchips that get fried. Unless you keep stuff in a farraday cage or farraday bags.
