My grandpa had those mole traps and they did work - once in a while. And canned oil - I remember that. There were pour spouts that were used to puncture the top of the can, then you hooked them to the can so you could pour the oil out. Then quick change oil places came along and canned oil faded into the sunset. 🙂

I remember using canned oil. The spout pushed into the can. You didn't need a funnel as the funnel was built into the spout.

The can oil you were holding looks like the can that came with roll roofing. They sold you a roll of asphalt roofing you would roll out and it came with a can of tar you would put down at the over lap and it also came with a small bag of roofing nails.

1940’s they stopped packaging oil in cans because of the war and switched to cardboard packaging. So the oil can he threw out is closer to 100 years old. Wonder what the value would be right now.

Canned oil was prob a thing before one of the world wars. Dog food used to all be canned too. But metal became too valuable for war, so alternatives were used. Dry dog food. Plastic bottles. Ect.
