How did people write before pen and paper?

Our G6 students explored this question through a hands-on History lesson where they crafted their very own clay tablets from scratch and inscribed them with cuneiform—the world’s first writing system.

They experienced firsthand the precision and patience needed to press wedge-shaped symbols into wet clay, gaining a deeper appreciation for this ancient craft.

And the best part? After firing their clay tablets in the kiln, the students got to take them home. What a great tangible piece of history and a lasting reminder of their journey into the past!
