I think I'd have less of a problem with football shirts if they hadn't changed to releasing a new home shirt every single season. Back in the '90s in the UK, the system for most clubs was a home shirt (and sometimes the away) would be used for 2 seasons which means the kit would at least have a little more value.

The same authentic shirt of Manchester United 2022 season would cost 10 pounds at the maximum if you are able to procure one from the country which produces it. Also these shirts rather than being created as knock offs are easily available in South and East Asia from the sweatshops where they are actually made for one tenth of the market price

Price has gone up with inflation, but wages haven’t, so it is effectively more expensive to buy a football shirt now

Lets not forget. 30 years ago clubs changed their home kit one season and the away one the next. Now most clubs have 3 shirts, plus goalkeepers, and sometime special shirts. So Adidas are making a lot more e17 (euros)

Here in Indonesia, Nike manufactured their kits (jerseys) also their shoes. In 2019, workers from KMK Sport, PT (Nike distributors and produce in Indonesia) got demonstrate because they got underpaid and poor working condition.

I live in Iraq and i bought an authentic player issue Barca shirt for 20$. At first i thought no way this is actually authentic but it has the same exact details. Quality. Printing style and materials as the one i bought online from Barca store for 140 Euros. It made me regret buying the later😂

Normally I tend to buy kits towards the end of the season because prices are relatively lower. Price kits are normally lower and go for as low as $5 towards the end of the season.

One important cost that wasn’t included is before the actual production of the shirt there are people that design and develop these kits. There’s time that goes into planning and researching fabrics, patterns, fits, performance etc. All the people involved on that end get paid, so that cost needs to be factored in as well.

Good video. As someone who buys different shirt regularly here in England, recently the prices have sky rocketed high. Need to spend at least £100 or more for a shirt. Luckily for me, I have friend who gives me free shirts from sports direct when they have a clearance
