This does show in most cases, but as someone who’s played electric guitar for 6 years… I can say I still hold it like a beginner. I don’t look down. I just hold it like that… it’s comfortable.

OH AND! you can also determine their level on how they have their wrist. If it’s comfortable and mobile, they probably have more experience and can move their individual fingers better. A beginner will tend to move their whole hand when picking or strumming because they can’t reach some frets yet (or it’s still painful)

one things i’ve noticed is you can tell how good a guitarist is by whether or not they mute the strings they’re not playing. seems really simple but some people don’t do it

I love to play while looking at the fret. Esp with songs with many bar chords or power chords.

Bro I play electric and I hold my guitar w my legs crossed and the guitar is at an angle and my jazz band teacher gets so mad at me for it but it’s comfortable tho. also I put my strap like super tight😭

I've been playing for 6 years now and I'm holding it anyway that feels right at the moment. One can be very close, another will be across the room and i believe I'm kinda good (pretty average) at playing. A tip for the beginners - Don't overthink it. Play as you're comfortable.
