His faith in the Jedi Council and Republic was shaken deeply after Protobranch, and it continued to get worse with the increasing corruption and failings he saw from the Republic and the Jedi, caring more for the resources than the people of the galaxy. Serenno’s corruption by Count Ramil in 42 BBY and the Republic and Jedi’s refusal to act for the people is why Dooku left the Jedi Order in the first place.
