The Future of Star Wars Animation is...

With Star Wars Celebration Japan happening in a few weeks & the Lucasfilm Animation 20th Anniversary panel teasing “a sneak peek at what’s to come”, I want talk about what I believe is next for the future of Star Wars animation. Some of the best Star Wars stories & characters have all come from the many different Star Wars animated series released over the past 20 years. You could even say that Star Wars animation is Star Wars storytelling at its best.

I think the Path is the most logical and (in my opinion) the most engaging future for animation. Bad batch essentially wrapped up the story of the clones, and as you mentioned there's been plenty of seeds planted for the Path.

I desperately want to see a post-ROTJ animated series starring the OG crew, (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando) plus some appearances from Ahsoka and the Rebels crew! I’m genuinely amazed that a show like this doesn’t already exist!! I’ve talked so much about how I want to see Luke and Leia go on bonding adventures with Ahsoka (hell, I want to know how they first met). And given the 20 year gap between the Mando-era and the sequels, it’s not like they need to tie it into the sequel trilogy either. They could leave it more open ended.

Well I thought "the hidden path" was the obvious path forwards until they announced tales of the underworld. I don't see why they would include Ventress (or Barris too, for that matter) in a tales series if they're just gonna do a hidden path series that could tell those stories in greater detail. And I don't think they're gonna do another clone focused series right after basically giving the clone story a happy ending in the bad batch. So I'm not so sure what they're gonna do now.

It'll probably be something completely unexpected.

I agree with your video, Scotty. There are many theories and many characters for various fans to conjecture many different series that could be generated. But in the end, there's an animated series titled "The Path" featuring Vos and Ventress. However, the Path implies a search for lost Jedi. This might not be something fans are eager to explore, as it may not seem exciting- after all, the Jedi were supposed to be extinct during the years of the Empire. What plot will attract audiences and invigorate a fandom that feels "lost" themselves?

I think this sounds good, but what I would want is for it to be a multiple season show going from before, during and after the Clone Wars. They could adapt some of the legends republic comics with quinlan vos and bring in some of the Rattattak lore for ventress. The they could expand the Clone Wars, bring in characters like alpha 17 or fordo and do the dark disciple novel in animation, then afterwards they could do the hidden path after the war, and they could just call the whole thing dark disciple.

And then they could do some other animated stuff, like son of dathomir and some other unfinished episodes that aren't full series

And another series they could do would be the Clone rebellion, but I think it should focus on commander cody, as well as rex and echo, with gregor, howzer and wolffe as supporting characters, they could have phase 0 dark troopers and stuff that would be awesome
