I think Alien (1979) and Blade Runner (1982) MUST and SHOULD be in every Top 5 Sci-Fi Films. Both are pure masterpieces of cinematography. I love the fact that Ridley made them

He certainly doesn't need to be modest!! He was only the director of those movies (and a great one at that!). But he didn't write the stories, didn't adapt them to screenplay, he didn't act in them, etc... Every movie is a result of huge team work. A director is totally allowed to pick his own movie for his top list.

Also Metropolis, Planet of the Apes, The Empire Strikes Back, The Thing, RoboCop, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, in terms of classics.

He's not modest, but I'd rank Blade Runner first and Alien second, ahead of all other directors.

Alien number 1, Bladerunner number you are modest Ridley, way too and Bladerunner are the best Sci-fi movies of all time, thanks for them!

Ridley's very modest I think : he put Star Wars ahead of Alien and Blade Runner ! Star Wars is hugely influential and we all grew up with that, but in terms of cinematography, lighting, acting, screenplay and so on, Ridley's films surpass it, that's just fact, I like Star Wars, don't hit me please ^^. 2001 is on the same plane as the Scott sci-fi films, great great great masterpiece, I'm glad he put it at number one.
