The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. The film stars Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. “Alien: Romulus” is produced by Ridley Scott (“Napoleon”), who directed the original “Alien” and produced and directed the series’ entries “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”), and Walter Hill (“Alien”), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serving as executive producers.

They're really throwing it back a bit with the old ship settings, the claustrophobic, closed-in scenes... This is almost a breath of fresh air!

The fact that they are using a lot of sets and practical effects rather than full blown over the top cgi is a big plus in my book.

I saw it today, I give it 8/10. If you're into this universe you have to see it.

I love it when trailers don’t spoil the whole movie for you

Can I just say this is a perfect example of how you do a teaser trailer. For an Alien film You’re not getting a synopsis of the entire film. But it perfectly gives you the setting, and vibe. That’s a Teaser Trailer right there.

Go to the theaters, see it on the big screen, it is awesome

At last, a REAL teaser trailer! I HATE the parasitic click-bait channels that have A.I.- generated art for the icons, and then cobbled-together footage from various Alien movies as the "content".

We all know how these Aliens work, and they still scare the crap out of you especially in the confines of a spaceship

Been a fan of the franchise since day one, 1979 sitting alone late one summer night in an ancient movie house in Parma, Ohio for the final show of the evening. It's been one helluva ride and this one just may be as memorable.

Just watch the original with Sigourney Weaver. That's all you need. Still untouchable.

For those of us who were there in 1979 (and 1986) it's very very hard to sell us on anything better than those films. I wish this one success.

I saw it last night.

My god its very very good, nothing can replace Ripley or the original vibe of the first 3 as I grew up with them and they transcended through my childhood.
But there are plenty of references which was like saying hello to an old friend while giving me something new.
There were some brilliant ideas in there too, especially the play on alien acid and zero g.

But make no mistake, as an Alien fan, I left with a smile on my face. I just wish they made these films all the time, like an ongoing adventure for survival, they really should.

The set design and lighting is breathtaking, I found myself taking my eye off the actors at times and just admiring the detail, its a work of art.
I personally would have tweaked some of the main cast, they seemed very young and was the only area I think could have been improved (but they were not bad-just not great but I accept they had the biggest of boots to fill) . I think younger people going to see it wont have those bonds to the original and take to them better.

I give the original 3 aliens a 9.X I personally thought all 3 did a great job, with each one being different and evolving the story to credible points, at least until the 4th which I will not even acknowledge.

Nothing else to say, most of the films in cinema are garbage lately, stuff like this does not come along often, maybe once every 10-15 years so go and enjoy it on the big screen. I will go see it again before it leaves.

great job on the cast and crew. So nice to see a film that reminded me of what going to the cinema used to really be about.
Just leaving with the feeling I had an experience and escape. That is what movies should do.
