Who are Link's Parents? Digging through 35 years of Zelda lore...

Link is one of Nintendo's most famous characters, but who are his parents? I searched through The Legend of Zelda series, from A Link to the Past to Breath of the Wild, in order to find these missing Nintendo characters!

Interestingly, that comic about Ocarina of Time Link's mom gives hints to the exact tree that his mom turns into. By looking at the background in one of the panels with her, you can see a few buildings. With the specific buildings seen and how they are oriented, the only tree present in the game that she could have become is Mido's house. Which means Mido lives in the dead body of Link's mom

Okay, you gotta at _least_ give Wind Waker an honorable mention here, I mean, in that game, Link has the most family members of any Zelda game. In a couple games he has one, and in many games no family members are present at all, but in Wind Waker, there are a whole _two_ family members. And alive, I might add! His grandma, and his sister, Arial.

You know I really like the detail about Zelda's mom also being Zelda because it's true to the lore of the royale family naming each princess Zelda. If princess Zelda would become Queen Zelda and proceeded to have a girl, then she would traditionally be the next princess Zelda in the royale bloodline.

I wonder what happened to Link and Aryll’s parents in Wind Waker… Grandma has photos of herself and her grandkids in her home, but there aren’t any photos of the parents. Maybe they died in a sailing accident, and it’s too painful for Grandma to keep photos of her child and their partner on display? 😢

The big guy you claim to be link's father in that breath of the wild concept art, to me seems more like link's grandfather actually. He looks older than what i imagine link's parents looking like. Also He doesn't strike me as very knightly, more of a tough blacksmith kind of guy.

Wait, for the Link to the Past Link, his parents say "*OUR* brother". Does that mean Link's uncle is a brother to both of his parents?

I wish Age of Calamity started a little earlier on the timeline or had missions that took place a various points in the same era, so that Link's father and sister could appear in the flesh, on camera.

Well now hold on. Technically Hylian and Human are separate races in Zelda's world - Link and Zelda are always Hylian, but other NPCs, especially in BotW, have the rounded ears and less elvish features of plain ol' humans.

Link’s mom was mentioned in OoT, dad was mentioned in BotW, and he’s been living with his uncle in LttP and lives with his grandmother and little sister in WW. Other times his parents or family bloodline not been mentioned except for TP where TP Link is related to OoT Link.

Kass can't be talking about Links parents because he's talking about the time 100 years ago before Link was in the chamber. He could only be talking about Zelda being in love with Link.

A recurring theme is that Link's father was a knight. I also draw my attention to that glitched scene in Ocarina of Time where the knight was trying to tell Link something but then does or disappears from the environment (I forget which one it was).

Twilight Princess should get an honorable mention as you meet the Hero’s Shade, who is pretty much proven to be one of Links ancestors… So technically one of the Link’s parents!
