The New Album 'To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere' Out Now.

Lyrics:
I keep swinging my hand through a swarm of bees ‘cause I ...
I want honey on my table
But I never get it right ... no I never get it right
I keep swinging my hand through in swarm of bees
I can’t understand why they’re stinging me
But I’ll do what I want, I’ll do it what I please
I’ll do it again till I got what I need
I’ll rip and smash through the hornet’s nest
Don’t they understand I deserve the best
And I’ll do what I want, I’ll do it what I please
I’ll do it again till I got what I need
I tried to stick this pin through a butterfly ‘cause I ...
I like all the pretty colors
But it just fell apart so I flung it in the fire to burn with all the others
And this time I’ll get it right ... yeah this time I’ll get it right
It’s gonna be this time I’ll get it right ...
Oh God let it be this time I get it right
So I’m cutting that branch off the cherry tree
I’m singing this will be my victory then I ...
I see them coming after me
And they’re following me across the sea
And now they’re stinging my friends and my family and I...
I don’t know why this is happening
But I’ll do what I want, I’ll do it what I please
I’ll do it again till I got what I need

The guy who is driving when the chorus starts delivers a hell of a performance.

2023 and I’m still here listening to this masterpiece of a song, it’s a song I always go back to, never fails to hit!

To me this song is about the vicious cycle of self-gratification of an individual making the same mistake(s) repeatedly and not having the presence/peace of mind to change their course of action, or seek treatment. Ultimately, their sins and infallibility will causally and negatively affect their loved ones - whether it be spouses, siblings, or more commonly, their offspring. Pathological selfishness can be very detrimental to those exposed to it, on so many levels.

My dad introduced me to this song. Makes me a little emotional to listen to it now. He passed away 2 weeks ago.

With my meds, my adhd, the declining state of society, and half of my waking hours dedicated to mindless repetitive tasks on a computer for money, I dont really feel much of anything anymore. Occasionally I might feel a shred of the dreams and ambitions of my youth flash inside my mind, but it all just fades away bit by bit everday.

That energy and enthusiasm I once felt in my chest and in my soul, watching the sunset with my friends, walking the streets on warm summer nights, wondering what great adventure life had in store for me; they were just memories of what was never meant to be.

But when I play this music, I feel again. The energy of those summer nights, of my destiny, they come rushing back through me. I havent wanted to sing in so long, but for the first time in years i found myself singing along.

You dont know how much this song, your music means to me right here, right now at 5pm on september 8th, 2021. I know what I need to do and now, you ignite the embers that were growing cold and stoked the flames that were dormant inside me.

Thank you for this gift, Thrice.

Thank you.

This song captures human nature in a bottle, absolutely brilliant.

After 50 years of battling mental health struggles and addiction, all I feel now is a heavy weight of pain and regret. I’ve become a master of disguise—my smile is automatic, my laughter perfectly timed, and my compassionate nods and sympathetic responses come effortlessly. Yet, inside, I’m trapped in my own mind, overwhelmed by regrets, fears, and grief. When I listen to this song, it mirrors my pain and somehow, its hypnotic melody brings a strange sense of solace.

Black Honey is the song that made me a fan of Thrice. Great, gritty vocals and cool melody.

Extremely powerful. Each person driving the car, represents a different person in power, driving the next generation towards the same outcome, and not learning the lesson. Hence the line "can't understand why they're stinging me".

The kids going through the field, led to make the same wrong decision as the rest, because "this time we'll get it right, gotta let it be this time.. Get it right!".

Love this song, and powerful video.

LYRICS:
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees 'cause I
I want honey on my table
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees 'cause I
I want honey on my table
But I never get it right
No, I never get it right
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees
I can't understand why they're stingin' me
But I'll do what I want, I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest
Do you understand I deserve the best?
And I'll do what I want, I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I got what I need
I try to stick this pin through a butterfly 'cause I
I like all the pretty colors
But it just fell apart, so I flung it in the fire
To burn with all the others
'Cause I never get it right
No, I never get it right
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees
I can't understand why they're stingin' me
But I'll do what I want, I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I got what I need
I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest
Do you understand I deserve the best?
'Til you do what I want, I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
And this time, I'll get it right
This time, I'll get it right
It's gonna be this time, I'll get it right
God, let it be this time, I get it right
So I'm cuttin' that branch off the cherry tree
Singin' this will be my victory
Then I
See them comin' after me
And they're followin' me across the sea
And now they're stingin' my friends and my family
And I
I don't know why this is happening
But I'll do what I want, I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I got what I need
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees 'cause I
I want honey on my table

Every time I come back to this song, the energy just blows my mind. I must have watched this like 50 times. It hasn't lost any of its appeal at all. Just makes me want to watch and listen more. Just brilliant.

It's 2020 and this is still one of the best songs of all time.

For those looking for the bands meaning in the song:
“Black Honey was built from one of the first ideas we started jamming on when we got back together to write this record, ” vocalist Dustin Kensrue told NPR who premiered the track last night. “Lyrically the song spawned from an image that popped into my head; someone continually swatting at a swarm of bees to get their honey, but somehow not understanding why they would sting back in return. It seemed a fitting metaphor for much of U.S. foreign policy.”

This song shows the timeless genius that Thrice has been able access over the past decades. The gut-wrenching honesty, and unflinching incisiveness calls for all to look at the root and effects of our toxic habits, unresolved trauma, and most damning of all; deceit of self.

My dad is 68 this year....I still see his face looking at me screaming just like the dad in the video, nearly 30 years later. Be careful with how people will remember you.

To me this song is the definition of addiction. Doing the same thing over and over... thinking this time will be different... and then not understanding why everyone around you is getting “stung” so you just keep doing that cycle of addiction. It’s very sad but there is help. You don’t have to keep doing this. 💚💜
