how to replace an electric oven

In this video, I replace an electric oven. Replacing a single electric oven is normally very easy as they are a standard size. Replacing a single electric fan oven is also simple as they are both normally wired into a standard three pin plug.

Useful tip : plug the cooker into any wall socket to make sure it works before installing the cooker in its fixed position, screwing it in place etc save time if you have a faulty one.

Thanks for this.
Thanks also for highlighting the possibility of needing a new dedicated electric connection if the current rating is higher than what's being replaced.

Good video thanks. If you have a gas hob above your oven make sure you do not disturb the gas pipe. As I did in my case and had to renew all the gas pipes. Just a word of caution👍👍. Have a nice bank holiday weekend everyone😁

This looks far easier than I'd always assumed

It’s a bit wet today (normal for a bank holiday weekend), looks like I will be doing some video editing!
I hope everyone has a great weekend 😉

Great stuff, should be a straight forward swap for my old oven.
Great easy no fuss video, straight to the point
Thanks

Another great video useful for someone who has never done this before. Many of us have, but there was always a first time for us.

And I always like that in your videos there’s no bullshit. Just straight honest “here’s how you do it” - this is how DIY videos should be.

The ONLY thing that annoyed me, on your behalf, was that you felt it necessary to apologise for the focus issue. And I know why. Because someone - there’s always one - will criticise for an imperfect video. Despite them never ever uploading a video to YouTube 🙄

Keep it up. Your channel is an online bible for those learning DIY for the first time. 👍

Important point you missed advise owner new ovens will smell when first used as elements have moisture on them .Open a door and run on all heat settings for 10 mins.to dry moisture out and get rid of the smell.

Was that a "bollocks" at 2.25! Haha, been there 😂

Good video, as usual. I'm assuming you changed it out because the elements went kaput. Generally it's not that difficult to change out those elements. That would make a good video, too.

Thanks for this. I am buying a new oven from Currys and the product description say that it requires "hardwiring to a 16 Amp fuse and should be installed by a qualified installer, " .... does this just mean put a plug on the end of it with a 16amp fuse in it?

Currys is charging a smooth £90 for this service 😂

Will a modern stand alone single oven work off a 16 amp circuit or do you need to charge out the circuit breaker on the consumer unit for a 32 amp circuit breaker ? Thanks.

Unplug it - take it out - put in back in again and plug it in - couldn't be more helpful!

Do you have a video where you connect to a fuse spur? So not a plug-in unit?

Is it just as easy to change a hardwired one?
