Do NOT Make this Mistake with your Kitchen Island

Do NOT make this MISTAKE when it comes to kitchen island placement!
.
One of the most common mistakes people make when putting in kitchen islands: putting the cabinets too close together.
.
While it may seem like a good idea to maximize your storage space, this can actually hinder the functionality of your kitchen.
When the cabinets are too close together, it can be difficult to open the drawers and cabinets fully, making it hard to access your kitchen tools and appliances. It can also make it challenging to navigate around the island, especially if you have multiple people working in the kitchen at the same time.
.
To avoid this mistake, make sure to leave enough space between your cabinets and the island. A good rule of thumb is to have at least 3 feet of clearance between the island and any surrounding cabinets or walls. You will want at least 4 feet is you have a sitting area. This will allow for comfortable movement and easy access to your kitchen items.
.
So, if you're planning on putting in a kitchen island, remember to give your cabinets and drawers some breathing room. Your kitchen will thank you for it! #kitchenisland #kitchenremodel #kitchendesign #kitchenmistakes #interiordesign #homedecor #homeimprovement #interiordesign #kitchenstorage #functionality #homeowners #remodelingtips

Good point though. My kitchen is spacious, but not good dimensions for an island so better to skip it.

Great video. We just moved our island out to 40" from the counter and fridge. Nice and roomy now. 👍👍👍👍

What’s bugging me a whole lot about that kitchen is the refrigerator. Get counter depth refrigerators. That one sticks out like a sore thumb.

Don't forget that is from face of cabinet. So 36" it functionally 32".
I have mine @42" func. @38". It's fine when I'm in there alone but if anyone is in the kitchen with me, I wish I had went 48". Also don't forget the fridge sticks out. So either recess it if you can, get a counter depth or compensate for it with an additional 6".

48 inches minimum in the work area. 36 inches is terrible.

When you have your oven at your kitchen island, just remember that you must be able to stand infront it and take a turkey out of it, without being cramped :P

Instead of feet, can you use fraction of a football field as unit of distance? Or easier, metric units like metres? 😂

36 seems fine until you realize that you are sitting in a chair right now watching this vid, and your seat alone takes up like 20. Imagine only having 12 more inchess to back out...would suck. 48 in is what you want if you can get it, if not 42, and only 36 if you absolutely desperate.

Islands and bar counters are tacky. I'd rather leave room for a decent-sized table and chairs. It's much more versatile.
