I Found MY FAVORITE Restaurant in Germany

In this video, we travel to western Germany to visit a 3 Michelin-starred restaurant that became my favorite German restaurant by the end of the experience. This is Waldhotel Sonnora, led by Head Chef Clemens Rambichler.
And I even found answers to a few intriguing questions:
We have two wines with a price difference of 6,000 euros.
Can the cheaper one actually be better?
How does a classic restaurant, opened in 1978, stay competitive and relevant in today’s world?
And finally, is there such a thing as love at first sight?
Join me to find out!

My name is Alexander. I’m the co-owner of a ONE Michelin star restaurant, and I’m on a mission - to find inspiration in gastronomy. I love fine dining, good wine and sharing what I know with other people.

This restaurant is by far the best one for me in Germany - three times there and can't wait to return.

A must visit for every fine diner while in Germany

One of the very rare times when Krug didn't appear, I'm sure you had plenty of it, before and after.
Happy to see that DRC, and Leflaive were able to elevate the experience ( and the final bill too)
Very kind gesture from the restaurant, charging you for only one of the tasting menu.
Thanks for sharing. 🥂Happy birthday

I don't know which is better, your ability to find pearls or to be able to tell about pearls. Alongside your visit to Franzen, Stockholm, this could be your best program yet.
The wines are of course completely beyond most people's reach and perhaps understanding, but seeing and listening to your judgment is almost as good.
Happy birthday to you. I want to promise that you washed your shoes thoroughly this year.

First of all Alexander, A very Happy Birthday. That was a truly amazing restaurant you took us to in Germany. The food looked absolute culinary perfection and the service outstanding. I hope the reformation of your own restaurant goes to plan and I look forward to being able to pay you a visit one day. 😀👍

That's actually amazing.
I'm not into fine dining, but I follow the Food blog "Trois Etoilles", and the Man behind it LOVES the Waldhotel Sonnora. And the thing is - just by the dish on the thumbnail alone I knew it would be this particuliar Restaurant!
Great choice!

No way! I've been a huge fan of the channel for some time now! So pleased to hear we share the same birthday Dec 8th! I've just spent mine with a fantastic 10 course degustation at Field restaurant in Prague. I hope you have eaten equally well Alexander!

I’ve just booked this in for my father as a retirement gift. The menu convinced me! I’ve been to a lot of Michelin restaurants and while I enjoy the experience, this is the type of menu that you just know is about taste first and frills and feathers second.

A german restaurant sourcing bread outside of germany, considering the quality of german bread is ridiculous. They ought to be embarassed.

You can get a Corton around 1400-1800€ at quite a few German restaurants. The Montrachet is mostly between 4000-5000€. Lower is impossible, because it’s already 2500€ in whole sale, as rumours say. Germany, except Berlin, has fair DRC prices.

The plating was perfect for me. Just the right balance of art and showcasing the food. Glad you had fun with the wines.
