Chances are, you've eaten an oatmeal cookie before. But have you ever had a truly GREAT oatmeal cookie? You know: Golden-brown on top, nice and chewy, and just sweet enough? If you've had one, you know what I'm talking about. If not, here's your chance!
To make these cookies, you'll need the usual cookie-baking suspects (flour, baking soda, salt, butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, and some pure vanilla extract), plus the ingredients that make these cookies special: old-fashioned rolled oats and raisins.

Sarah's Tip of the Day:
I love these cookies, but I've been thinking: Why should raisins have all the fun? It hardly seems fair. So try these with dried cranberries or chocolate chips, or a combo.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Recipe Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup packed dark-brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

This recipe is really good! For those who have not tried it yet, here are some of my tips for you:
1. Baking Powder Substitute
Basically I do not have Baking Soda, the ones that I have are unclean because I use it for cleaning. So you can add 2-3 tsp of baking powder to substitute it.

2. Submerge the raisins in hot water
I saw this in another recipe and decided to try it out. You would first notice some color wearing off but it’s fine! If you have really big raisins like mine, try to cut it into small pieces. There is no limited time to how long you should soak it 2-3 min would be fine if you’re using really hot water! You should drain the water away. Put one into your mouth and you’ll realize that it got juicier. Then just add it into the dry ingredients and mix it together.

3. Baking Time
I preheated my oven about 10min. I set it to about 180 degrees Celsius and put it in my oven for around 10-12min. Different oven varies so when it seems solid light brown, it’s probably ready!

4. I placed 1/2 a cup more raisins for mine, you should try it too!

I wish everyone all the best and hope you found my changes and the recipe a helpful one! Let’s all enjoy the joy of baking together ❤️❤️

Thank you Sarah for that wonderful easy recipe. I am making it almost weekly for over a year. They are gone very quickly. You are right, the best thing is to make several batches at the time, and freeze them. My suggestion to others....before you do it, put on baking sheet the individual amounts and put them in the freezer for a couple of minutes, than pack them. When you're going to bake the cookies, much easier to separate them, than a big batch.

I am 13, and I made these they were delicious!! the only tips I have-
add some cinnamon for some nice flavor (I put a little in the batter and some on the top of the cookie) sprinkling the cinnamon was a great idea

add a little less oatmeal (there was a lot of oatmeal and the ratio of oatmeal to batter was a bit off)

enjoy!! they were delicious 😋 thank you Sarah!! 🖤🖤

They tasted great when I made them. I thought we had no butter so instead O used 4 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil and turned out perfect. And I later found butter.

I just did this recipe and I am impressed. I cut the ingredients by half and just used a tablespoon of brown sugar and a tablespoon of Splenda instead of white sugar. As a result the mixture is a bit more runny so I added 1 tbsp of the flour. It was enough for about 8 cookies. I also substituted the raisins for cranberries. They came out VERY tasty, natural and chewy and the sweetness was perfect, my family loved it. Thank you so much for this video!

Amazing cookies. I just made them for my family. I had a large ice-cream scoop, so ended up with just 8 large cookies. Everyone loved them. Thanks a lot.
