Very clever reusing bobf Luke. Mark Hamill is 5'9" while Ian McDiarmid is 5'10", so it works great for a slightly below 6' character.

I dig the expression. It's pretty neutral but has a hint of a smirk. Wouldn't mind a cackling head but for the standard Palpatine, this will do. Somebody's gotta make a half-scarred face as well! That scene almost traumatised me as a kid.

This is the first pre-order I ever made for a figure. It started the addiction lol. I don’t get duplicates (for major characters/non-army builders) and I’m a box-opener. However, i just ordered a second one because it makes me so happy seeing Sidious in the box, I want to have a version that I can keep intact, that’s how much I’m happy with it!!

The only thing I would possibly change is give him a different head (I wouldn't hope for an exchangeable one) with an insane cackling face that he likes to make during his duel with Yoda. Need me some Ian McDiarmid antics on the shelf. Otherwise a very solid figure and one I've been waiting for.

The figure looks pretty good. I like the spread of accessories. The base body seems to work well, though I'm not sure why they have him Tattoine leg wrappings. Luke's Return of the Jedi boots might've looked better.

I know soft goods aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they really help with posability. I would prefer a soft goods hood, much better for poseability. They did a good Job with Darth Malgus's.

1:41 This version of Sidious should have a dark bronze hilt. This hilt is the one from the insert shot at the beginning of the Windu duel. A little BTS for that duel, he used Anakin's lightsaber before rewrites and there are shots of him with Anakin's hilt in his hands during the fight.

I got mine last week. I love it. I put it with my sith Lords on my top shelf until Yoda arrives and then I'm going to find a way to display them fighting each other along with I can't Wait to get the duel of the Fates 3-pack as I'm going to find a way to display them fighting each other too. Two. So many good stuff this year that I still wish they do more with the Old Republic stuff and sith stuff which palpatine technically accounts for that. So I'm happy

Hello Nate, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the new Darth Sidious black series figure.
I just had my loot pile shipped yesterday so I'm just waiting at this point for my Sidious, Destroyer Droids, and other figures from BBTS to arrive.
I think it would have been better if the Hasbro team just used the Emperor's figure for Sidious instead of Luke's but it doesn't bother me that much. I'm not looking up Sidious's robes so no big deal to me. It would have been great if we could swap the lightning hands with the Emperor's figure, the new blue lightning looks so much better than the original. Oh well, missed opportunity.

Found Osha and Mae at WM and initially passed but then the SW devil on my should told me to get them because...customs!!! They are great to mix and match with Bix parts matching with swapping only you get 2 whole new figures and the mask from Mae works perfectly with Shin Hati!!! Now how do I post pics to comments shakes fist at sky!

They should have tried experimenting with wired soft hood so you can pull up and down the hood for better head movement, the plastic hood is really limiting the head movement.

I hope we get a Clone Wars version with both lightsabers. Maybe if we get him in a two pack with savage then it'd be even better.

I went back and watched the palpatine vs Yoda fight. I feel like where the sleeves meet the cloak needs to be slightly smaller and the sleeves need to be just slightly longer.

Great review as always Nate! Got mine in yesterday, almost time for a bigger Separatist shelf. Can't wait for the end of the year top 10 list. You guys are going to have some tough choices to make with all these bangers Hasbro is dropping.

You can get the lightning hands to look good in dooku’s rists without black tack. You just gotta angle the peg ever so slightly and it won’t look like it’s drooping. Just be careful when moving it, as it’s still not the right size peg
