As a German learning French I can add an other difficulty of the French language: The different registers of spoken French. Especially in very casual and familiar situations French people tend to speak fast, using a lot of verlan and argot (slang) and leaving out even more letters. Like shortening "Je ne sais pas." to "Che'pa". Learning French is almost as learning two languages.

Now my English level is B2, and I'm learning Russian. When I speak in Russian about certain topics like, education, learning languages and daily activities, I can easily communicate in Russian, and also German too.
