BMW M2 vs M2 Competition: Which Should You Buy?

I get behind the wheel of a 2017 BMW M2 and a 2020 BMW M2 Competition, both currently for sale at Gravelwood Car Sales. You can potentially save around £15,000 or £250 a month by choosing the original M2 instead of the Competition, but is the later car actually worth the extra money?

That’s my old M2, absolutely stunning car, hurts to see it gone but it will go to a good new home.

As someone looking to buy an M2, I found this really useful, thanks Sam. I was already leaning towards the older M2 anyway, but this has helped reassure me in my decision.

I wanted a 1M, but too hard to find one. So, I went for the 2019 M2C gently used with 15, 000 km on the clock. My 1st M car ever and love everything about it. But now I want em all- M2, M2C and 1M- after this great vid. !!! Had a blast watching this .Thank you !

M2 Comp I reckon, brilliant machine in looks and driving performance! the best M car on sale today!

Picking my M2 OG up tomorrow. The 10-15k extra wasn’t worth it for me, plus I prefer the original M2 alloys and read end

Hey STG thank you for producing great videos as well as your knowledge with cars and your positive attitude i remember meeting you back in January of 2019 when you came to Lorbek Luxury Cars in Melbourne, you really inspired me and many others, so thank you for doing that and coming to the meet, was so fun cruising around Melbourne in a convoy of over 40 Supercars, keep up the amazing work STG!

That was like watching an old top gear segment (minus sliding it round a track and gurning). Compare 2 cars and then at the end saying you wouldn't choose either and go for something else 😂. Great video Sam.

I actually like the look of the standard m2 more. Good thing they're considerably cheaper.

I like the standard M2 more because its simpler, looks nicer and 13 grand is A LOT of money. I'd definitely take the M2 over the Comp. And I'd also take the 1M over both.

Think I'd buy the M2 and fit the M2 Comp seats 😂

You're right about the sound of the 2017 M2 revving up higher. I have the M-Performance exhaust and it completely transforms the experience.

I'd have one of the last 2018 original M2s with the updated digital dials

Interesting review Sam - enjoyed and agree with points made.
As a Comp owner (previous M2 owner) i moved on based on the Comp being a more compliant daily... But come the odd track day I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the original just a little.

I have a 2017 M2 LCI, it was an early one registered in late July. Could have gone for an original one, but preferred the updated dash and rear lights of the LCI. As much as I'd love a Comp, it's just not that different to justify the extra cost. 370bhp is more than enough for the road. I tried to find a manual in Long Beach Metallic blue but they are RARE.

I bought a 2018 M2 as the M2 Competition was being introduced. My car was optioned with a package that added alcantara trip, the BMW alcantara performance parts wheel and some other items. I decided it was what I wanted, a simple car without so many of the things on the comp. And as you say, the performance if about the same. With this being at the end of the model run, I also got a nice discount. A very enjoyable car to drive when not using my 2019 330xi. I traded it earlier this year for a 991.2 Carrera.

I drive an M2 comp, I haven't driven the old car, but I love the comp, just a great all round fast car!
