Eico 667 Tube and Transistor Tester in Operation

This is my Eico 667 tube and transistor tester in operation. I test a 12AX7, a 6V6GT, 7591's, and a couple of transistors. I also explain a bit about the switch positions. I did replace its original diodes and capacitors as well as out of tolerance resistors. I experimented with the transistor test section components to make it actually give a believable current gain reading when I serviced it.

**Please excuse the fact that I wasn't looking at myself in a monitor when I did this, and that I had no rehearsal prior to making this video**

What manual are you using mine shows a completely different set of instructions from what you are using!

It seems as though every merit test I do I get a good reading. As in all the way past 140... what am I doing wrong?

my tube roll says grid of 40 and plate at 76 for the 12ax7. Should i follow what you used at 15 and 80?

There may be an open resistor or bad connection to the "S" switch. If your 667 is all original, I would check all of the resistors to make sure that they are within there tolerance range too.

I have a 667, too, however mine has a listing for the 7591. The settings are as follows: Filament 6.3, Grid 7, Plate 70, 1143_1_52 / V 4, S 2, Leak 3, 4, _5_, 6, Merit 3

did you sell a Eico 667 Tube and Transistor Tester on eBay

You may have a newer roll chart than I do. It may be a good idea to double check with tube data to verify switch positions. I have heard of mistakes in the roll chart, though I haven't seen any (yet) myself.

I'm sorry to have to say this but I think you should remove this video and make a better one. There are two things at the beginning of the Eico 667 manual that you are doing wrong. One is, that you should set all your setting BEFORE inserting the tube. The other thing is that you should never hold down the merit test longer than it takes to take a reading, or you will damage the tubes. I'm afraid, if you leave this video on YT, many people are going to learn the incorrect procedures and damage their tubes. I'm sorry if my comment doesn't come across the right way. I'm trying to give you constructive criticism with best intentions. I think you should just make a better video and delete this one. Hope this makes sense.

Hello, would you by chance have the setting to test an 8950 Compactron tube. At one time I had the addendum sheet for that and several other later tubes. Please let me know in the reply I do appreciate it.
