My hate for Eric Forman from That 70s Show is so strong that it warranted me making an entire 6 minute long video essay about it. Take this with a grain of salt lol

I personally think the reason Eric can be so unlikable is because you expect him to fit into the 'nice guy' cookie cutter mold, which just doenst happen. But I think people forget that all the characters are flawed, Eric is naive but selfish, and can be a bit of a jerk. But that's kinda why I like his character, he's not meant to be a 'good guy'. He's meant to be a teenager, who makes mistakes and talks back and isn't always on the right side of things....

I love Eric and I sometimes feel bad for him. He developed his character flaws from his parents toxic parenting style. His dad never shows him any love and he constantly criticizes him for not being manly. Then his mother is overly affectionate and makes him feel guilty for growing up or trying to move on with his life.I did not realize how bad Eric and Kitty were until the last season when Eric left to Africa and Red was still talking crap about him. Red even compliments Randy ( Eric’s replacement) more than his own son.

This is, without a doubt, the most cuck attempt at some “clever analysis” of That ‘70s Show I’ve ever listened to. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but you obviously don’t grasp certain traits of these characters; not in the slightest. I mean, come on dude. You said Donna is perfect lmao. There are countless episodes where she blows up on Eric for literally no reason. He’s not nearly as selfish as you think. You just have to watch it and pay attention. But I can tell by how condescendingly you spoke about the show that you probably wouldn’t rewatch it and attempt to understand, so it is what it is.

I like Donna but sometimes she's quite dramatic

I’m not sure you were watching the same show as everyone else.

I think Eric was developed pretty well up until the end of Season 5. At the end of Season 5, he’s finally confident in his decisions and his future with Donna after they leave. At that point Red even finally acknowledged him as being a man and congratulated him for sticking to his guns. They should’ve ended the whole show at Season 5 in my opinion. After Eric and Donna ended up staying, Eric’s character arc took a nosedive until he eventually became insufferable in Season 7.

"Enlist in some war or something?!" Um... there were no wars in the late 70s.

Eric and donna are both as flawed as each other they're meant to be tenagers not rolemodles they act each act childish at times and there relationships messy and confusing because its there first relationship with the boy/girl next door that doesnt mean they have to fit into the movie steriotype of that 70s show feels like how you remember being a teenager in that cringey nostalgia where you realise you acted more spoilt and childish as you thaught this criticism comes as close as you can get to "I would be so much better for donner than eric" without acctually saying it, you acctually sound alot like my friend when his crush talks to someone

He is easily the best character of the show. The show would survive the loss of any character except for him. He was the backbone.

Donna is the worst
Mrs Forman might just be the best.

this is just a young man growing up. Sex and girls are pretty much ones of the main topics at this age. I have no clue how kids are today. but perhaps your generation is too busy trying to be "woke" and "PC", that his behavior may seem quite alien to you

I love how almost all Eric’s toxic traits you showed were just clips of him interacting with his sister, who is quite literally and evil witch who makes his life hell

Even though he was a main character I personally did not like him because he was spineless and whiny.
What was worse was that his character barely develops as he gets older so there gets to a point of annoyance towards him.

I liked it until season 3, then I feel the first few episodes of season 4 Eric sort of seemed weird idk. I feel like the writers restarted the character development every few episodes

Eric Foreman is basically Scott Pilgrim. He’s everything we hate about ourselves, which is meant to make us look at our own shallow, toxic behavior. I’ll agree though that it’s still much better in small doses. Maybe just 2 or 3 episodes at a time

If you don’t like Eric and donna’s relationship, you should watch smallville. In that show Clark goes from crushing on Lana, dating Chloe and breaking up the same day, dating Lana, breaking up with Lana, dating Lana, breaking up with Lana, dating Lana, breaking up with Lana, crushing on Lois, dating Lana for a day, crushing on Lois, dating Lois.
