The fact that Netflix made the 90s show but doesn't have 70s show makes me question my existence

That 90s show being about the old cast as grownups would actually have a lot of potential

you nailed it: that’s 70s show makes you feel like you’re hanging out with the cast. that’s 90s show makes you feel like you’re watching a 10th grade drama class performance written by the students, oh but some of the old cast is back for a few lines so it’s fine right?

my biggest complaint is that the kids don't feel like 90's kids at all, it's like you said: it's like watching a disney channel sitcom. the cadance and tone is identical to those shows whenever the kids are on screen and it's almost like watching a high school theater group perform on stage

Just from the overall looks, it seemed like That 70's Show was made by people who actually lived in the 70's, while That 90's Show is made by people who watched 2000's Disney Channel shows and a few episodes of the original for reference.

The fact that Topher Grace hasn't aged a day since That 70s Show is baffling

I went back to watch 'That 70's show' just recently and what caught my eye was just how great the acting is. It was so good it made mad thinking about how awards shows never give any consideration for comedic performances. The timing, expressions, deliveries all come together well and I'm so glad that most of these actors went on to do other things.

As a fan of "That 70s show" this is pretty much exactly how i feel, the chemistry between the characters is just not there, making everything feel forced, and watching the old characters just makes it more evident, even with just a few scenes you can see those characters still work and it's because the cast chemistry is still intact.

It feels like Gen-Z teens going to a 90s themed party instead of it really feeling like this takes place in the 90s.

You hit the nail on the head about the chemistry. The original series you felt like you were watching friends actually hang out, you felt like you were watching your own friend group hang out if you were blessed enough to be a teenager who spent all of their time stoned in their friends basement. I remember my group we all had characters we thought resembled each of us, that’s how likeable and realistic the original group is and I know my friend group wasn’t the only one to see themselves in the gang. This is legit just teen actors reading corny lines

The better moments were when the old cast showed up. The new ones brought Disney Channel energy to a setting which didn't need it

That took me out 😂

The cameos from the original cast members was the best part, as were Red and Kitty. Also, they did a fantastic job at picking actors for Jay and Leia who resembled their on screen parents.

Love how this started out as an analysis of That '90s Show, but ended up proving how good That '70s Show was and is.

Not only is the chemistry not there. The level of acting varies. Bottomline: Just watch that 70s show. It's pretty timeless.

I still can't get over Eric naming his daughter after a character he definitely would have had erotic fantasies of.

I can't imagine Donna actually being on board with naming their daughter Leia Tatooine.

90's show has potential but I feel like TV writers forgot how to write teens

I hope they do a lot more chemistry building for the new younger cast. They need to have the authentic friendship and comfortability that the old cast had. You can tell the old cast wasn't afraid to be themselves and the old team wasn't expecting any more from them.

I really appreciate how Alex went to check out that 70s show for a real comparison. That's how I felt too and glad I'm not alone bc the nostalgia worked too well on my bf
