From the Himalayas to the high seas, India has ramped up military modernisation efforts to counter China. In the latest, Indian Defence Panel has cleared a massive deal that includes the buying of 97 Tejas fighter jets, and 156 Prachand combat helicopters.

India will also add a nearly $5 billion aircraft carrier, marking India's determination to further secure her position in the Indian Ocean region.

If India wants a true blue water navy, it will have to construct at least one nuclear powered aircraft carrier, with catapults. Hopefully, fighter jets such as the Daussault Rafaele or the Northrup hornet, can be useful in getting this new carrier operational as quickly as possible. Hopefully, Hindustan aircraft can assemble these jets locally, getting valuable experience before India develops its own carrier, launched jets. India will need to forge new alliances with nations to already have nuclear powered carriers, because Russian and Chinese diesel equivalence are completely in adequate. It’s very important that not only most India be able to operate far from home, but also in enemy waters.
