You can use this same process with burlap, denim, or canvas. It's commonly called Micarta and is used to make scales for pocket knives and other products.

Buy yourself a pair of pinking shears, it’s helps prevent the fabric from unraveling when cutting and working with your layup! I’ve only used them a handful of times myself, but our sheet metal and composite guys use them all the time when laying up repairs, I’m an aircraft mechanic

If you want a glossy finish put down a clear coat of epoxy on top of your mould before placing the first layer of fabric.

Hi! Can you please suggest? I want to make a structure like a box, but not from sheets, but made of strips, from carbon slats. Need to transport the harp in own semi-hard case, to check it in as luggage when flying. How strong can such a “box” be? The musical instrument in the package is about 17 kg. The main thing is that these carbon strips should weigh minimally, but to be strong enough for carrying upto 20kg, and they must be connected to each other without much difficulty. Is it possible to do or risky?

Get the following items:
- a disc cutter for cutting the fabric;
- laminating epoxy. The stuff you use is way too high in viscosity
- dust mask. although you do a lot of cutting wet, dry cutting will produce dust that is highly carcinogenic.

I wish you would post how to make. Your glow core carbon fiber for ring blanks. Want to make a ring with ashes. So don’t want to buy a block as you can find anywhere. Want to learn how to make it.

Looks like just layers of glow apoxy to create the CF. Or fiberglass sheets inside the CF to make the glow core.

Would this be something you would ever post how you make it?
