How to change spark plugs on a Honda odyssey

Показать описание
You only need a few tools to change the spark plugs or coil‘s on a Honda Odyssey. You will need a flat head screwdriver, 10 mm socket, 5/8 spark plug socket, 3/8 ratchet, and 2, 3 inch extensions. The engine is symmetrical, so the procedure is the exact same on both sides. The hardest part is finding the right angle to pull the coils in and out. You’ll have to do some maneuvering around the hoses at the back of the engine.

I appreciate you listing the required tools at the beginning, as well as showing the process. This allowed me to repair the #2 cylinder (firewall-facing, center) misfire condition, that showed up suddenly on our road-trip, in the shade in front of an AutoZone (thanks to them diagnosing the issue as well as allowing me to borrow their tools) and complete the 750-mile journey home! Since this happened on New Year’s Day 2022 with everything closed, being able to fix it myself using your instructions saved me a ton of money. 👍

Tip for the back, when removing the clip press the connector down and into the coil connection and you will hear the click and the connector comes loose a lot easier.

3:10 this is why you never put your tools on top of the engine.

Thanks for posting - was a big help. I was able to remove a couple ignition coils without disconnecting harness and that save a little time and hassle as well.

Was a great help, the one at the back near the compressor was difficult to change out. But got it done.

What about the 3 plugs in the rear of the engine?? The front ones are the easy ones

That plastic guard comes off rather easy in the front. Might help you reach stuff.

I hate it when that happens! The tools roll off into never land.

I believe that you lose part of your tools. I saw it rolling away from you on the video. Watch out, my friend!

You should show what a nightmare getting that middle coil out of the back is.

Do you recommend using the gap measure to confirm the necessary spark gap before installing?

What type of spark plug did you use? IRIDIUM?

What year is this Odyssey? There arent many about my 2018 Odyssey and im curious why, and what pitfalls I might find in comparison.

It's funny how you don't show how to change the back ones which are the hardest. Anybody can change the front ones

Is there a tightness that we should follow?

Always put a small dab of 'never-seaze' on the spark plug threads, more important on alumimun head engines, if you have compress air avalable, blow out around the base or the spark plug before removing it.

You neglect to mention the the rear plugs are impossible to see and quite awkward to reach

How do you remove those rear doubled black clip-ons that are in the way of hand positioning?
