By the way if you shop at Advance Auto and use the code "ChrisFix25" at checkout, you will get 25% off your entire order (order anything, not just plugs). *I do not make a penny from this. I asked Advance Auto for a discount for my Subscribers (and I use it too lol). I hope that helps!

I can’t even lie, this video alone saved me a trip to a mechanic. Was afraid my engine was spewing coolant around, causing some bad misfires. Checked spark plugs and oil reservoir. Clean oil. BAD spark plugs. Thanks a lot man!

*IMPORTANT!: IF YOUR SPARK PLUG BROKE INSIDE OF YOUR ENGINE, READ THIS!*

So, the other day I changed my spark plugs, and as I went to remove one, it broke, leaving the metal threads in the head of my engine, while the ceramic portion came out. So, if this happens, try this first before you have a mechanic take the head off to remove the hollow shell of the theads.

1. Get a #5 size "easy-out" screw extractor bit. These are used for removing screws with stripped heads.
2. Attach your 10 inch extension to your 3/8in ratchet.
3. Get a 7/16in size, 3/8in drive, star socket, and turn it *backwards* so the star portion is on the end of the extension. It should fit, but wont be snug.
4. Insert the square end of the screw extractor bit into the square hole in the 7/16in star socket.
5. VERY slowly, screw the extractor counter-clockwise (to the left) into the inside of the shell of the spark plug.

As the screw extractor bites into the inside of the broken spark plug, it will slowly unscrew it as well, saving you potentially hundreds or thousands of dollars by not having to take it to a mechanic. I had to do this on my 2011 INFINITI G37x and it came out fine. Just MAKE SURE you unscrew it VERY slowly and you wont have a problem. Use a long skinny magnet to remove it from the inside of the engine.

*Please upvote this as it could help people in a bad situation save some money!*

Auto Zone sold me more expensive plugs (iridium) last year and my car has only run worse. Went to Rock Auto and bought the OE Manufacturer plugs (copper and 80% cheaper. $2 vs $10) and now my car runs so much better than those more expensive ones. I'd much rather swap my plugs out every 30k miles than the car run like crap for 60k+ miles. I always come back here for a refresher course on how to swap them out. Thanks again Chris.

I think I speak for alot of people, we all appreciate your charismatic attitude, and professionalism, unlike another mechanic YouTuber who just has to call you out :/

You've never come off as someone who is trying to 1 up anyone, just an honest guy trying to help people like me who are paranoid about working on their car 😂

Keep up with the fun and informative videos!

Too bad service manuals nowadays instead of giving u information, they say, 'go to your nearest authorized dealer' as the answer to all the issues

I really admire this guy. And not because of all his knowledge about cars, but because he also edit his videos like a master... I just picture the amount of time that he must spend making them.... They are clear and to the point. Some of the most understandable videos in here...

I've seen many, many different videos on changing plugs over the years, but this one is by far the best. Touches on all the pertinent information, including referring to the owners manual (keeping it real) and safety (DO NOT do this on a hot engine). This is great practical information for the beginner and the expert alike!

Chris... I too, have been working on cars, not professionally, for over 50 years. I prefer your channel as you show how most car repairs can be done at home with a minimum of tools. That in itself makes your channel great. I'm sticking with you. BTW, your subscribers show a lot of class by not getting into a pissing match with that other group. Keep up the great job. As always, thanks for taking the time to teach others.

I replaced my wires and upgraded my platinum plugs to iridium plugs on my 2001 Camry with the help of this video. I fixed a misfire problem I had and now my engine feels like she has power now. Thank you !

Dude. Your videos are pure brilliance. Ive been a home mechanic since a teen and i still learn from you. There is nothing quite as pleasing as working on your own car and saving a ton of money in the process. Keep it up Chris, truly a great job.

I bought a car a week ago, 75k miles on it. The owner took care of it, but not that much, so I decided to get into it. I have built FPV Drones, I fix computes and cellphones, so I felt confident. I changed my filters, put some new LED bulbs for the headlights, and the big! I changed the Sparkplugs today, took me around an hour, but I did it. Thank you so much!
