Being rejected and treated as though you are not enough is a horrible feeling 😔

I think something worth considering is, non physical abuse can often result in physical harm. A person's health will be greatly impacted in both the short term and long-term, so personally I take it as serious as physical abuse, or consider it to be the same.

Thank you, guys, for a much-needed podcast, no spouse should ever have to put up with being abused emotionally or physically. In our Christian culture, verbal and physical abuse with wives abusing husbands takes place a whole lot more than we admit to. Especially the physical abusive behaviors from women, often starting with verbal abuse, escalating to physical. Many guys have been taught from a young age to never raise a hand towards a woman or harm a woman in any way, setting us up for abuse physically by an abuser. Once an abuser gets away with abusing their spouse, it will happen again. I found myself in this situation, only to find no one believed that any "normal guy" would allow himself to be abused. She chose to walk out on the marriage rather than working anything out, stating that counseling was for others it wouldn't work for her. She then married another poor guy less than a month after the divorce was final continuing the cycle of abuse with him.
Thankfully our God is one who allows "Do Overs" in every aspect of our lives. I wasn't even looking to remarry, date or ??, we started out as friends, when I met my wife almost 30-years ago. God continues to bless us with an amazing marriage, because we chose to put God first in all aspects of our relationship from the beginning.

Such an important discussion to have! My spouse is an alcoholic and has mentally and verbally abused me. Makes fun of my faith in God, etc. Of course, most times he doesn't "remember " these things. He definitely needs healing. I'm working on healing myself and praying daily on rather to stay or go. Prayers are much appreciated! 💜

Very tough subject. No hands on either woman or man. Definitely glad you are discussing this matter. God can and does heal 🙏🏼

Thanks for diving deep on this! It’s hard to kind of dissect these topics especially when you are in the middle of it.

When trying to heal and work on martial issues, it feels hopeless when one sided work happens 🙆🏻‍♀️🙃🥴

What about when the abusive behavior in the marriage is what one spouse is doing to himself? It seems like my husband is abusing himself and trying to dig himself into an early grave with his binge eating. He doesn’t abuse me; he abuses himself and it’s tearing our relationship apart. If it weren’t for the patience and peace given by Christ, I would’ve left years ago. There’s zero attraction and next to no sex in our marriage but I still love him.

It’s sad that all of this is going on in a marriage, verbal, sexual, emotional, money, control. Then the husband leaves for an other women in Mexico, not talking. And there’s no help anyway.
