Why The Arabs Revolted | The Arab Revolt Part 1

The Young Turks were a prominent political movement in the late Ottoman Empire, emerging in the early 20th century. Comprising mostly of educated, young intellectuals and military officers, they sought to modernize and reform the empire, advocating for constitutionalism, secularism, and nationalism. Their efforts culminated in the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, which led to the restoration of the Ottoman Constitution and the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) gaining power.

This also led to the deposing of Sultan Abdul Hamid II.

However, their nationalist policies turned off other groups within the Empire, particularly the Arabs. When Sharif Hussein ibn Ali became governor of Mecca, he realized he could not trust the Young Turks.

I am Turkish. I live in a small town of Balıkesir. In my city, during the First World War, boys over the age of 15 go to war. They all die in the war at the front. Women marry children to have children. Turks lost everything for the sake of this ummah. But our Muslim brothers still see TURKS as enemies. What will we say?

*They forgot one Golden Rule : "The Help Of ALLAH TA'ALA Is with them as long as they Do Not Fight each other and side with the unbelievers"*
*If they do so then it's their downfall*
seems History repeated again and again ; unfortunately Muslims do not learn....*

13:25 Sorry brother it doesn't work that way, you can't just fast zip tie it up like this. Enver was a fool but the strongest supporter of Ummah. He lost the presidency race due to western media propaganda. He was exiled to East Turkistan and still worked his back off there for the Ummah. Sheriff Huseyin on the other hand JOINED THE ENGLISH FORCES AND PILLAGED THE RAILROADS.

The information about Cyprus is not correct. The Ottomans didn't lost Cyprus, Sultan Abdulhamit gave it to the British on 11th of July 1878.

There is no such thing as Ottoman, it's an English word. The official name of the empire was Devlet'i aliyye Muhammediyye, Great State of Muhammed.

I must praise your straightforward style, it makes your presentation 'information dense' and easy to take in. The only point I'd change is, please make a habit of saying "AH" or "CE" after stating a year, so we can tell which calendar you're referring to.

Up to 30% of the Ottoman army in WW1 were Arabs.

The revolt was mainly supported by Hejazi bedouin, most of whom didn't even have guns.

But the Arab revolt did cause massive Arab desertions. Which allowed the failure in the Levant.

Since the Arabs didn't have strong loyalty to the state, due to its secularisation for the last 100 years since the deestablishment of the waqfs, it's failed push for Ottomanism and finally it's push for Turkish nationalism.

Which was the reason Yemen revolted in thr late 1800s and early 1900s costing the Ottomans troops that could've been better used in the Balkans.

There wasn't much left of the caliphate after the Sultan's fall. But I still wonder how did the arabs in the region didn't see they were leaving an "empire" to play right into the hands of another?
