Thank you for this - information on how to manually rearrange columns (beyond the basic "Choose sort ascending or descending") was weirdly difficult to find. It doesn't even seem to be mentioned in the official PivotTable documentation.
One note: holding the "Alt" key doesn't actually seem to do anything. In my test, the columns (or rows) can be dragged around with the four-way-cross cursor (once you find where to hover the mouse) without holding any modifier key. Holding "Alt" doesn't interfere, but it doesn't seem necessary, either.
