Yorkshire people are born with tough genes, my dad survived cancer, septicaemia, two falls, all in old age. My friend used to say he was a miracle man and would be the sole survivor in an aircrash. I never thought he would go - but did at 90 after breaking his hip. A bout of pneumonia took him out. But I thought it was a grand finale, an exit to a long and good life. My mum had died suddenly whilst he was in hospital, there was a double funeral - a sunny day, everyone was happy at these celebrations of life, with not a tear shed in the place

When you look at, listen and make an assessment of that old man, don't just judge him at this point. But you should say: if he is so healthy and has lived that long I can imagine how active he must have been at my age.
Many people don't like to take time and talk to an old man because they think it's a waste of time and possibly a boring encounter. When I see an active old man I like to get information about his style of living. I usually learn a lot more than listening to some lecture or reading books.
You can learn about his diet, physical activity, hobbies, his mental frame etc when he was a young man. Old people like to talk about their younger days and you can get a lot of useful information.

I have one perspective only - work to become independent & live as large as possible. I've seen people become so hooked in to being accepted by co-workers they get stuck - forget acceptance by others. Work on your own stuff on your down time until you have your own business, home, etc. That's being the best you can.
