Best advice a musician could ever receive.

The quote from Miles that encapsulates this is " The note next to the one you think is bad corrects the one in front of it " .

This is a true understanding of a musician.

All true musicians know this..
Living in the moment is key

One of the greatest advices Miles Davis once said was. "Never fear mistakes, there are none." Even jazz vocalist Jon Hendricks once said, " In jazz there's no such thing as mistakes, there are only opportunities." Greatest advices, ever.

And Miles took that weird chord as an occasion just to open our mind to new and undiscovered expressions😍

Thx for posting. This is timely advice for me. Whenever I play a 'wrong' note, I stop recording the session and start again. However, some of my best work has been done at 3am when I don't care to start over, I'll just find a way of justifying what I just played and carry on.

Great lesson. By the way, if Bill Evans was still alive, I'll purchase all of his master

Great endearing person. It was circa 1983 when I first heard Rock It I was almost 10 years old and in 1985 May parents.bought me Headhunters album on cassette for my Sanyo personal cassette player (I didn't get a Sony Walkman which was kinda sad but the Sanyo was brilliant quality anyway).

I'm 50 years old and still learning about life and music from greats like Herbie Hancock. Thank you. I think his mind is definitely laser focused much like Lennon and McCartney. It wasn't all about the money back then imo

What is it that they say? Play it once; it's a mistake, play it twice; it's jazz. Haha

Moving words! Makes me want to hear that chord (plus the solo).
