Fix Upload Blocked errors when accessing synced documents from SharePoint or OneDrive on Office Apps

When you open or edit files in Office 365 Desktop applications, you receive the following error message:

UPLOAD BLOCKED: We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions to upload the file.

Upload Blocked. You are required to sign-in

Upload blocked”, “Sign into save this file”, or “Save a copy”, you may need to remove and reconnect OneDrive.

Upload blocked”, “Sign into save this file”, or “Save a copy” error message.

Upload Failed: You are required to sign in to upload your changes to this location.

Sign In Required", "Upload Blocked", "cached credentials have expired"

If you get this error while saving the changes to a Document, save the changes on the computer as a backup Before closing the file. Subscribe.

finally - a solution. I was signed in w/ an account different from what created the document. thank you for this.

Just changing the account from the top right of the word document resolved the issue for me as document was made in personal account but was trying to save it in OneDrive business account.

I just wanted to say thank you! This helped a lot! I was having issues when loading this into the excel workbook and it would continue to read 'uploading pending' and then when I closed the file, it would notify me that I could save a local copy. It turned out I had 2 accounts signed in (so signed out of one anyway) and then in the 'Office user info' area, I connected to the server and it seems to have fixed my problem. Thank you!! :)

Hi, just found your video and it's very helpful but I have another problem about opening my excel file. This is a shared file in sharepoint and my colleague told me she just edited it but when I open the file, I cannot see any changes. It shows the above "Refresh Recommended" with choices "Save a Copy" or "Discard Changes" . I'm afraid what to choose because this may create some issues since it was linked to power BI. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you so much!

I was working on powerpoint. I saved and then closed the file while having this issue. About 1 hour progress not seem to be saved or uploaded to OneDrive. I had 'autosave after 10 min' option on. But can not see my updated file anywhere not even in 'recover unsaved presentation'. Can I recover my lost progress in anyway?

I have had this issue for a month now. My wife and I use the same computer, we both have separate Microsoft 365 OneDrive accounts (I do not have the computer set up with two separate sign ins though). Her "work or school" account and my "work or school account" are listed. We have been operating this way for months and everything worked fine. She would save files to her onedrive and I would save files to my onedrive (business, not personal). Just in the last month she gets upload blocked messages and I do not. Any help?

I check all my office programs and settings, seems i only have this problem with MS Visio.

bro, it didn't work for me. lemme explain the story, firstly I couldn't find how to make a shortcut of word on my taskbar, I tried and error, long story short, I accidentally uninstall the application, literally the app of Microsoft Word. I got shocked and tryna get back the apps, I found the solutions on yt video, It said that I had to go to my Microsoft account and install the office app package and download my word from there, and it works, it connected with my Microsoft account (FYI I'm using official Microsoft Home and Student 2019 license) but, after that this problem happened as the upload unblocked, my last save document was lost, I edited for hours and it's really important. IDK but my Excel and PPT don't have that problem at all like they can save my file the way they are even though I'm using the same Microsoft account for all of them.
Bro plis help me, I don't wanna be like that. 🙏🙏🙏

This does not work for me, I need to be signed into all the accounts I am logged in to. One carries the license, one carries the files and the other is my perosnal.
