100 Years of Public Beaches on the Oregon Coast

Discover a birthday celebration of sorts along the Oregon Coast that's 100 years in the making and -- rain or shine -- you're invited to join Oregon's Beach Birthday Party.

There are a lot of special, spectacular and rare things to be found on the Oregon Coast, and there is just one thing that unites them all: Oregon statute 390.610, which declares the entire coastline free and open to the public. It means that this isn't just any coast—it is the People's Coast.

Everything we love about the Coast can be traced back to that simple fact, from the opportunity to stand (just about wherever you want) in awe of nature's raw power to the childlike sense of adventure and the spiritual revival that can only come from being free to explore the Coast on your own terms.

Thank you Oswald, and Samuel Boardman, who finished off those open spaces to the shoreline. I'm headed for a walk on the coastal trail, in Brookings now! If you think it's going to be cold, or cloudy, check the weather app. Don't miss Harris Beach Sunset, or Cape Ferrelo, anytime. As you walk on the trail, left if the parking lot, stay left when it branches again. A nice flat walk, with a bench at the end of a 1000 yard walk. Give or take. Feel adventurous, continue down, and around the end of the Cape. Cheap camping at the state park at harris beach, reserve early. From the Oregon /California border, twenty mikes north, stop at every opportunity, beachside.
Enjoy the Chips, well done at wild river pizza, and have fun!! Your welcome here anytime.
Ps., great deli at Fred Meyers. The best fred Meyers in the state!!
