Is it normal for it to turn yellow after 2 months of been plating?

My husband and I bought our white gold rings in two different places. After 20+ years, we took them off for a year, and his turned visibly yellowish gold, while mine looks blue-ish black. When inspected at close proximity, you can tell that it's actually a mixture of two colors, one like copper and the other a silverish blue. What could have caused the difference and why did my white gold turn "blue" instead of "yellow"?
