Just sharing some CCNA studying tips. Also, I review a few of the Cisco (and non-Cisco) CCNA books (some are easier to read than others)!

I chose the cover to cover method, and you hit the nail on the head. By the time I finished the text, I had forgotten almost all that I have read and wasted a lot of time.

This reminds me my early stages in IT when i was studying for Security+ by CompTIA and this guy David L. Prowse. This man made 800 pages more barrable with humor and dynamic flow of information that is easy to comprehend. I'm a visual person so when it comes to reading it is hard for me to retain information unless something captures my attention like humor by a middle age man XD

The bigger chunk of the OCG wasn't that bland. If you know a lot it might be but overall it was an easy read. The last two parts of volume 2 are extremely mundane and verbose. It's important to go over the OCG because the key points in that book that Odom highlights are literally the same points he's going to form questions on for your exam. Yes, Odom is unironically one of the creators of the questions for the exam.

Hi Ricky you lr absolutely correct in your studying approach. I pretty much started reading Wendell Odum and even that was dry and boring. I started jumping around with different sources and packet tracer lessons until I grasp the whole concept. But everyone learning abilities and methods are different and we need to find what works for you.

Best resource is Jeremy’s IT Lab hands down. Went from scratch to CCNA in 28 days following his course.

I'm assuming you have already passed the CCNA exam at this point. Do you recommend any specific video training that go along with the Books? I think I may be using the Jeremy McDowells videos. I also have access to a friends Pluralsight account I might

I started studying last April by purchasing the ocg both volumes and Jeremy’s it Labs. Your description of the ocg was on the money. I stopped reading it and only refer to it on some things. I’ve since mainly used Jeremy’s It lab and lab like crazy. Used other sources such as practical networking and Neil Anderson videos. Also used boson labs. Will take the test next month.

I’m slightly more of a tactile learner than visual. Or a hands on learner. If I do it, I get a better understanding of what I’m learning. That’s why I like to lab. Show me a couple times and I will get the hang of it.

I just finished day 39 of jeremy's IT lab, free on youtube. there's a LOT of material 60ish presentations, over 50 packet tracer labs and anaki flashcards ...i'm not planning on taking the exam just learning as much as I can about networks then, I will start studying for the security+ exam,

hey great video. I have a question, the the practices of the two books are generally the same? (quality and quantity) because I don't know for example if the oficial cisco book has a lot of packet tracer prcatices. Ireally don't care if the book is dry I only want the best for quantity of practices and a lot of information.

Hi! For me, personally, absolutely diametrically opposite - Wendell Odom's 2 volume CCNA Official THE GREAT! And much better for me than Todd's book.
