Why Is It Impossible To Make A Good Venom Movie?

Venom should have been a home run. The legendary Spider-Man villain has an extensive history in comic books, has been adapted to animation, and sells millions of toys. Buy why, after 4 feature film appearances, have we not gotten a faithful adaptation of Venom? With Tom Hardy's Venom trilogy coming to a close with less than negative reviews, it begs the question, will we ever get a decent Venom appearance in a movie? Even more, will Venom ever grace the screen with the MCU's version of Spider-Man?

It's not impossible, Venom has been a hero longer than he was a villain and he's had tons of great solo comics. Sony is just a trashy studio that sees Venom as an easy cash grab rather than an IP that can built upon.

The fan film "Venom: Truth in Journalism" (2013) by Joe Lynch and Adi Shankar still stands as the only good live-action portrayal of Eddie Brock / Venom.

Goyer wrote a script for a Venom movie that New Line Cinema was making that was going to focus on Eddie Brock and Cletus Cassidy's rivalry without Peter Parker / Spider-Man in it at all because New Line Cinema only had the rights to Venom and Carnage and it would've starred Dolph "Ivan Drago" Lundgren as Eddie Brock / Venom, but it got cancelled because New Line Cinema did not like David S. Goyer's script and probably also because of the middling reception "Spawn" (1997) movie got and so New Line Cinema eventually sold the Venom movie rights to Sony Pictures who would use Venom in "Spider-Man 3" (2007) movie and Tom Hardy's Venom movies...

I honestly don't get why a pg-13 is a problem. The 90s animated Venom was good. If something is well made, it doesn't have to be OTT in your face violence - look at films like Jurassic Park.
Nonetheless, it's a shame that no-one seems to have the talent and interest in the character, in combo with a studio willing to take a risk to make a good Venom film/ appearance.

From the 1st Venom movie, Sony immediately struggled understanding the "i" and "we" aspects of the symbiote bond. Even the most basics were misconstrued.

Saying Venom was ruined because it got a pg-13 rating is ignorant at best. Good movies rely on good writing, story cohesion, theme and such. if those things are not intact blood, profainity and s$x will not save it.
