Dude perfect subject matter. I just did the Orlando Mega Health Jam ( #megahealthjam ) this last weekend and it was a culture shock for me. I still consider myself a noob developer and had no idea what I was about to get myself into. It was scary at first but then it got fun. It turned out that I had a lot more to offer the team effort than I gave myself credit for. All the teams were developers from UCF and FullSail and here I was Mr. Self Educated via people like you. I held my own and my other life experiences helped a lot in the planning and execution stage of the effort. It was fun and I will be doing again. In the future.

Thanks for the helpful video! I'm attending my first hackathon at my University this weekend with 2 of my friends, going to create a fun game idea we had!

Excellent video. One recommendation I would have is to focus on one, maybe two main mechanics for your game projects if you have only 24 to 48 hours. The work becomes exponentially more when investing time in more game mechanics. That's not to say there aren't teams who can pull of a wonderful mix of more mechanics, but those teams tend to have had a very good idea what they were going to do from the start or already started with something simple that was easy to expand upon.

This weekend is Ludum Dare so with this video I assume that you will participate? If so, do you stream or film that?
