DI is the reason why out of fighting games smash bros is intense, yeah the amount of input in melee is also insane but compared to other fighting games when you’re being combo’d there’s practically nothing you can do unless your opponent drops the combo, in melee you’re always engaged offensively and defensively, wouldn’t surprise me if Melee will continue for another decade.
