Tell me your favourite child and why it's Fenrir?

Most stories dealing with Hel show her much like Hades. Both stay out of mortal affairs the most out of the main deities. Also both just do their jobs without much complaint. In fact in one tail, when Oden gives Hel Helheim to rule over she thanks him for his generosity.

From what little survives of Norse literature Hel doesn't feature in many stories but in the few she is in she is largely indifferent. Infact, the only tail she is prominently in is the Death of Baldur. Out of Loki's children she mainly is content to stay in her realm and place the dead in storage.

Another interesting fact is that Hel means "hidden". Fitting for both the goddess and her realm as the underworld is hidden and the dead are often hidden by being buried beneath the ground. Some have speculated that Hel is a late adition to Norse myth, and is a literary personification of the grave instead of a goddess who was worshipped in her own right.

I never did understand the anthropomorphic children from Loki considering his father is Farbauti, a giant, and mother Laufey, also a giant.

The parable nature of the tales are brilliant though as a means of retributive justice. Great vid!!! I genuinely did not know that much about the "kids" outside of the hel mistress

I imagine Hel during Ragnarok would be busy making preparations for all the dead heading her way. Since she mostly keeps to herself she'd Probably watch it happen.

The story of Loki's children is sad, I always feel for Fenrir most of them all. But in the end it was a self fulfilling prophecy and the Gods brought it all on themselves! The stories of Fenrir and Sleipnir are two of my favorites, but the fact Odin took Sleipnir as his war mount always seemed weird to me.
